Don Kerr, Organist and Choir Director

Don Kerr received his early musical training from Edward B. Gammons of the Groton School and later became an organ pupil of Jack Fisher of Emmanuel Church, Boston. A graduate fellow at the University of Vermont and at Harvard University,  he subsequently studied organ and harpsichord with Bernard Legacé of Montreal and with Dom André Laberge, O.S.B., Abbot of  Saint Benoît-du-lac in Québec.  Also a poet and writer, Don was librettist  for three extended music dramas by British composer Alan Ridout and was Poet-in-Residence for the Montréal Boy’s Choir School in Québec.

Past positions include:  St. Peter’s Church, Albany NY, Assistant Organist and Choirmaster, and Summer Music Program Director; Holy Trinity Church, Southbridge MA, Organist and Choirmaster; The Rectory School, Pomfret CT, Organist and Choirmaster, and Latin Master; Hope Congregational Church, Springfield MA, Director of Music; St. Paul’s Cathedral, Burlington VT, Director of Music and Director of the Ministry of the Arts; St. Mary’s Church, Ponca City OK, Director of Music; Church of the Messiah, Glens Falls NY, Organist and Choirmaster; Chairperson, English Department, St. Mary’s Academy, Glens Falls NY; St. Paul’s Church, Salem NY, Organist, Schola Cantorum Founder and Director, and Curator of the historic E & GG Hook Organ; and Emmanuel-Friedens Church, Schenectady NY, Director of Music. He retired from the New York State Department of Corrections in 1993.

For the past thirty years, he has been a resident of Washington County in New York.  He has three brothers and seven sisters, most of whom live in Vermont.  Don joined the staff at Saint Mark’s in May of 2015.  He now lives in Winslow with his collie, Bella, who is a beautiful rescue dog.

Jonathan Knock and Melinda Corey,
Coordinators of Children and Youth

Jonathan Knock is originally from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He received a degree in Biblical Studies and Youth Leadership from Atlantic Baptist University (now Crandall University) in 2000. He has held positions in youth ministry at several summer camps and churches in both Maine and Canada, as well as working in outdoor adventure, and currently is employed by VIP Kid, teaching English online to students in China. He is a volunteer youth rock climbing instructor at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville and has tutored in their local homeschool group.  Jonathan enjoys making rustic furniture and toys from local and salvaged woods and any outdoor activities, especially rock/ice climbing, mountain biking, and camping.

Melinda Corey is originally from Littleton, Maine. She received a degree in Spanish and Youth Ministry from Gordon College in 2002, and completed her master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education at UMaine (Orono) in 2014. She has worked with young children in many capacities, and currently serves as the Early Intervention Program Manager for Child Development Services’ regional offices in Waterville and Farmington. She is an instructor for Maine Roads to Quality, trainer with Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, and information specialist with the Autism Society of Maine.  In her free time, she enjoys reading and exploring new places with friends and family.

Jonathan and Melinda were married in 2003.  They live in Albion with their son Caleb, whom they homeschool, two cats, two bunnies, and lots of fish. St. Mark’s is delighted that they are part of our parish with a focus on our children and youth.
